AMAD has participated in the "SaudiYoung Professionals Program in Saudi Arabia"workshop that was organized by Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) on Dec 16, 2013 in collaboration with a number of stakeholders at SASO main building in Riyadh. Eng. Basem Salameh; Electrotechnical Consultant from AMAD represent a paper entitled " The Role of Saudi Young Professionals to promote standardization at local, regional and international level". The presentation reviews the standardization vise technical development, Kingdom membership in International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) which enables KSA to add, modify and vote on international standards and adopt it at local or regional level of GCC countries. And brought a real example of the “electrical cord extension sets” standard. Then Eng. Basem Salameh talked about the challenges facing young professionals in the Kingdom and how to strengthen Kingdom role in international experiences such as the International Copper Association (ICA) and the Electrical Safety Foundation International (ESFI).
Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) has adopted Saudi young professionals program to involve Saudi young professionals in standardization field and qualify them to develop standards in various stages at national and international level. The program aims to prepare a generation of engineers and technicians from all regions of the Kingdom to participate in standardization works at local, regional and international level and conformity assessment. Saudi young professionals will be selected by Saudi National Electrotechnical Committee (SNEC) to represent the Kingdom at international level as future leaders in this field.
